Worth & St ALDHELM’S HEAD

Meet at Worth Matravers car park. Head to coast at Winspit. West along coastal path past St Aldhelm’s Head returning to Worth via Weston Farm. Steep steps down (+/- 200) and up (+/- 200) after St Aldhelm’s. Leader will head to Square and Compass after walk. Everyone is welcome to join him. Option to avoid steps by returning directly to Worth from St Aldhelm’s.

Park and meet at Ulwell layby to walk up to Ballard Down then down through village of Studland along to Old Harry's Rocks and return to Ulwell via South West Coast path. A couple of climbs with great sea views.

South Dorset Ridgeway and puncknowle – all day walk

Meet at viewpoint on B3157 at the top of Abbotsbury Hill. Hilly Walk along Ridgeway and then past Catholes Withy Bed to Puncknowle (option of stopping for drink at pub). The route continues along Looke Lane to Park’s Dairy House where it turns South to Chapel Coppice and Bramble Withy Bed before rejoining Ridgeway. Please bring picnic lunch.

CORFE CASTLE TO GRANGE ARCH ALONG PURBECK RIDGEWAY

Meet outside National Trust tearoom in Corfe Castle square. Head up Knowle Hill and then up Ridgeway Hill towards Grange Arch. Return via Stonehill Down and Norden Wood to Corfe. A fair amount of climbing on outward part of the walk. Wonderful views. Note car drivers park at NT car park and walk back to Corfe square.

MIDSUMMER COASTAL WALK AND EVENING SUPPER

Meet outside Ballard Stores (17:30) for coast path walk to Bankes Arms Studland via Ballard Down and Old Harry Rocks to arrive between 19:00 and 19:30. Stop for drinks and or supper, hopefully in outside area. Alternatively meet at pub from 19:00 onwards. Return to Swanage by bus or car share.
No advance booking necessary. Just turn up on night.

Meet in Corfe Castle village by church. Head across the Common to Little Woolgarston. Climb up to Ridgeway. Descend back to Corfe via Challow Hill. Some climbing on this walk. Splendid views. Note car drivers park at NT car park and walk back to Corfe square.

BRING A PICNIC LUNCH

LULWORTH COVE TO DURDLE DOOR

Meet at bus stop at Lulworth Cove car park. Follow south west coast path to Durdle Door Beach and return same route. Steep hills with loose stones. Steps can be slippery when wet. Picnic on beach. Return bus at 13:12 arrives at Swanage an hour later.

RINGSTEAD, OSMINGTON MILLS, WHITE NOTHE

On A353 (SY 740 834) turn left to Ringstead, continue to end signed “South Down NT car park”. Park at far end of hillside overlooking bay and Portland. Note may be NT ticket machine at start of hillside as enter parking area. Circular walk to Spring Bottom, over Spring Bottom Hill to Osmington Mills. Then east via coast path to Ringstead, Burning Cliff, and White Nothe. Return via tracks alongside fields. Mix of hills (2 long gradual down & up), woodland, fields, level walking. Views of coast & Portland. Several stiles. May be muddy.

DURLSTON VICTORIAN TRAIL (EVENING WALK)

Meet outside Mowlem Theatre at 18:00 for a circular walk to Durlston Castle, going out via the coast path and returning via the flower meadows, The walk will broadly follow the route of the designated Durlston Victorian trial and it will provide an opportunity to observe progress on the Durlston Pleasure Grounds Project. Join me for a drink afterwards at the Red Lion.
