FURZEBROOK AND MIDDLEBERE HEATH

Meet at layby at South Middlebere - about 1 mile north of Scotland Farm. Please share cars if possible. Walk via Scotland Farm and Norden to Furzebrook and back across Middlebere Heath. A mainly heathland walk that can be boggy. The route crosses the A351 twice.

Meet at Houns Tout walkers car park at Kingston. Circular walk to Encombe Gate, Swyre Head, onto Kimmeridge Hill and back to SwyreHead passing Smedmore House. As this is a longer walk bring refreshments.

SPETISBURY, KEYNESTON MILL, TARRANT CRAWFORD

Meet and park at Spetisbury Primary School car park (available during school holidays). Along paths to Keyneston Mill, up to Tarrant Crawford and maybe Tarrant Keyneston and back via Crawford Bridge and Spetisbury Rings and Old Station. Riverside and open fields. Old churches. Chance of seeing kingfishers and/or otters if youŐre very quiet!  1 stile, 1 very short moderate climb up on to the Rings. If recent heavy rain then could be wet and muddy.

CORFE CASTLE & EAST CREECH CIRCULAR

Meet at Corfe Castle NT car park. Head off via Knowle Hill & Ridgeway Hill. Return via East Creech and Purbeck Way. Great views across heathland to coast. A couple of steepish climbs and descents but nothing too extreme.

CORFE MULLEN - HERITAGE WALK

Meet and park at far end of Corfe Mullen car park by village hall and Co-op. Approaching from Swanage look for 2nd Co op on left right through village, this is where village hall and library are situated. Interesting walk on footpaths, lanes and bridleways. No steep hills. Take in 13th century church, part of old market road, and signalman’s cottage on Somerset and Dorset railway.

Meet at Steeple CP and walk via Povington Hill and Tyneham village to Gad Cliff. Continue east to Kimmeridge Quarry and through Whitewayfarm to climb up Ridgeway hill and back to car park. Two moderate climbs and breaks for coffee and lunch.

Bring a picnic lunch

SYMONDSBURY, GOLDEN CAP.  ŇTHE TV - JULIA BRADBURY WALKÓ

Park and meet at Symondsbury by St John The BaptistŐs church in ShuteŐs Lane or Mill Lane. Bring picnic lunch. 4 long or steep hills, several stiles. Walk via ColmerŐs Hill, Hell Lane (west bit, probably very wet and muddy), North ChideockHardown Hill (hopefully covered in Bluebells), St GabrielŐs Wood, then coast path up and over Golden Cap to Seatown. Return via Chideock and Hell Lane (east bit). Will be a long day, allow 6 to 7 hours for the walk.
Note there are no toilets at start of walk, suggest stop at cafe and rest area where there are toilets on the Bridport Bypass at SY 451 921 - DT6 6AS.

AROUND CHALDON DOWN ALL DAY WALK (BRING PICNIC LUNCH)

On A353 (SY 740 834) turn left to Ringstead, continue to end signed “South Down National Trust car park”. Park at far eastern end, overlooking bay and Portland. Note that there may be an NT ticket machine at the west end of the hillside as you enter the parking area. Walk via the South West Coast path and White Nothe to East Chaldon, where there will be a break including an optional drink at the Sailor’s Return. Return along the lane to West Chaldon and through farmland. A hilly walk with lovely views.
